The Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, said in Parliament yesterday that the target of 8 crore under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) to provide deposit free LPG connections to adult women of poor households has been achieved on 7 September 2019.
Taiwan’s state-run oil supplier CPC Corp opened an office in New Delhi this week as part of its plans to set up a plant in India and forge ties with the nation’s petrochemical industry. The Ministry of Defence has signed more than 180 contracts worth Rs 1,96,000 crore with the Indian industry since 2014 while a few are in the pipeline to be signed in the near future, the ministry said on Thursday.The Services have also placed a number of contracts for private sector vendors such as Titagarh Wagons Ltd, Force Motors Pvt Ltd, Tata Power SED, Tech Mahindra Ltd, Tata Motor Ltd, Ashok Leyland Ltd, Bharat Forge Ltd, MKU Ltd, SMPP Delhi, Alpha Design for items like 1000 Tons Fuel Barges, Light Strike Vehicles, Portable Diver Detection Sonar (PDDS), RFID based SMART Card, 6×6 and 8×8 High Mobility Vehicle with Material Handling Crane, Dual Technology Mine Detector, Ballistic Helmet, Bullet Proof Jacket (BPJ) and Integrated Gunnery.
The Indian arm, GKN Fokker Elmo India, will manufacture electrical wiring interconnection systems at the new plant in Chakan.
“It will be the first corporate ETF, which will provide additional money for PSUs (public sector undertakings) as well as other government organisations,” Sitharaman told reporters after the proposal was approved by the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
