A 10-member delegation of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has arrived in Bangladesh to participate in a joint training course on border handling and management.
The BSF delegation entered the country through Benapole border point around 10am on Saturday when Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 49 battalion Captian Lt Col Md Selim welcomed the team with flowers.
The Indian delegation, led by BSF Second-in-Command (2IC) Arun Kumar Verma, will first arrive at BGB’s Pilkhana headquarters in Dhaka from Benapole. After a brief stopover in Dhaka, the BSF team will head for the BGB Training Centre and School at Baitul Izzat in Satkania upazila of Chittagong.
BGB and BSF will jointly participate in the border management course at the training centre. The joint training course is aimed at boosting cooperation between BSF and BGB.
The BSF delegation is scheduled to leave the country through Benapole on July 18.
BSF, the primary border defence organization of India, has been heavily criticized for killing Bangladeshi nationals, mostly cattle traders, at the border. The Bangladesh government raised repeated concerns with India over the killings.
