Egyptian-Indian Naval Forces Started Maritime Training on Wednesday

The Egyptian and Indian naval forces started on Wednesday maritime training on the northern fleet of the Mediterranean Sea during the visit of Indian ship, Ins-Tarkash, to the port of Alexandria and in conjunction with the Egyptian frigate, Damietta.

This came within the framework of the General Command of the armed forces to strengthen military and cooperation relations with all friendly countries.

The Indian naval ship, Tarkash, arrived in Alexandria on June 28 for a three-day visit to participate in the Western Fleet Overseas Deployment training programme, according to a statement issued by the Indian navy.

The training included the planning and implementation of a number of high-profile training activities including training to enhance maritime security, the protection of maritime lines of communication procedures, and management of business offensive and defensive combat while conducting a variety of exercises using helicopters to strengthen the work of fighting marine formations.

The training also includes carrying out defence exercise against non-stereotyped threats and practicing sailing formations.

This type of training aims to share common experiences with the Indian side, which has deep experience in these fields, as well as support efforts to benefit from bilateral capabilities in achieving common interests of both sides.

In 2018, Egypt and Pakistani naval forces also carried out drills in the Mediterranean Sea.
