Bharti Airtel has expanded its postpaid offering by adding one complimentary international roaming trip every year for each eligible SIM under its new portfolio of postpaid plans.
The revised plans take effect from October 8, 2026 and include a five-day international roaming benefit with 5GB of data, 60 minutes of voice calls, 25 outgoing SMS and free incoming SMS.
The move brings overseas connectivity into Airtel’s core postpaid offering rather than keeping it entirely as a separate add-on service.
One Complimentary International Roaming Trip Every Year
Under the new structure, every eligible Airtel postpaid SIM can receive one complimentary international roaming benefit each year.
Customers can activate the benefit for a suitable overseas trip, giving them a short-duration connectivity package without having to purchase a separate roaming plan for that journey.
For family postpaid plans, the benefit applies individually to each eligible SIM on the account. This makes the feature particularly relevant for households with multiple users travelling internationally at different times of the year.
What the Five-Day Roaming Benefit Includes
The complimentary roaming pack provides 5GB of mobile data, 60 minutes of calls, 25 outgoing SMS and free incoming SMS during its five-day validity period.
The package is designed primarily for short international trips where users need essential connectivity for communication, maps, digital payments, messaging and basic internet access.
By integrating this allowance directly into postpaid plans, Airtel is reducing the gap between domestic mobile service and short-term international usage.
New Postpaid Plans Start at ₹499
Airtel’s revised postpaid portfolio begins at ₹499 per month for an individual connection.
The company also offers family plans at higher price points, with multiple SIMs bundled into a single account.
Each eligible SIM under these plans receives the annual international roaming benefit, expanding the value of the family offering beyond domestic calling and data.
Airtel Continues to Bundle Digital Services
The new plans retain a wider package of digital services alongside mobile connectivity.
Depending on the tariff, these can include entertainment subscriptions, cloud storage and other digital benefits such as Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Xstream Play Premium, Google One, Apple Music, Apple iCloud+ and Netflix.
This reflects the broader shift in India’s telecom market, where postpaid plans are increasingly being positioned as bundled digital-service packages rather than simple voice-and-data products.
Network and Security Features Remain Part of the Package
Airtel is also continuing to highlight network-level features across its postpaid portfolio.
These include 5G-related service enhancements, spam protection and safeguards against fraudulent links and other digital threats.
For customers, the value proposition now combines domestic connectivity, international roaming, digital subscriptions and security-related features within a single monthly plan.
Existing Customers Can Move to the New Plans
The revised postpaid plans will be available from October 8, 2026.
Existing Airtel postpaid users can migrate to the new portfolio through the Airtel App or by visiting an Airtel Store.
Prepaid customers can also move to postpaid, while subscribers from competing networks can switch through Airtel’s available migration channels.
International Roaming Becomes a Competitive Differentiator
International roaming has traditionally been treated as a premium add-on, often purchased separately before overseas travel.
Airtel’s decision to include a limited annual roaming benefit within all eligible postpaid plans changes that structure by making international connectivity part of the base package.
This gives the company another way to compete for higher-value users who travel abroad for business, education, tourism or family reasons.
Airtel Pushes Postpaid Beyond Basic Mobile Service
The latest postpaid portfolio shows how Indian telecom operators are expanding beyond conventional tariffs.
Voice and data remain central, but operators are increasingly combining them with streaming services, cloud storage, network-priority features, digital security and travel-related benefits.
Airtel’s annual international roaming allowance adds another layer to that strategy and strengthens the role of postpaid plans as broader service bundles.
Airtel Broadens Its Premium Consumer Offering
By adding one complimentary international roaming trip each year, Airtel is making overseas connectivity a standard feature of its new postpaid portfolio.
The revised structure gives customers a more comprehensive package while increasing competitive pressure in India’s premium mobile segment.
As telecom operators continue to differentiate through bundled services rather than price alone, international roaming is becoming part of the wider contest to build more valuable and longer-term customer relationships.
