APEDA Facilitates First-Ever Export of Dried Whole Egg Powder from Odisha to Austria

Dried whole egg powder is a highly versatile product widely used in the food processing industry, including bakery, confectionery, and ready-to-eat food segments, as well as in pharmaceutical applications. Its long shelf life, ease of storage, and convenient transportation make it a preferred ingredient for manufacturers across the globe.

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the first-ever commercial export of dried whole egg powder from Odisha to Austria, marking a significant milestone in India’s value-added agricultural exports. The inaugural shipment, comprising 22.6 metric tonnes of dried whole egg powder, was exported by OVO Farm Pvt. Ltd., an APEDA-registered exporter based in Balangir, Odisha.

This achievement highlights Odisha’s growing role in the agro-processing and poultry export sectors. To support international market requirements, OVO Farm established a state-of-the-art egg processing facility in Balangir in 2025. The facility is equipped with advanced processing technology and adheres to stringent global food safety and quality standards. It has obtained internationally recognized certifications, including FSSC 22000 Version 6, Halal, and Kosher certifications, enabling it to cater to diverse international markets, particularly in Europe.

APEDA played a crucial role in enabling this export by providing financial assistance for infrastructure development, quality management systems, and laboratory testing facilities. The organization’s support helped the exporter meet international standards and enhance its competitiveness in global markets.

The successful export is expected to open new opportunities for Indian processed egg products in European and other international markets. It also demonstrates the increasing acceptance of Indian value-added poultry products worldwide and is likely to encourage further investment in poultry processing, generate employment, and strengthen Odisha’s agro-industrial ecosystem. The milestone reflects the Government of India’s ongoing efforts to promote agricultural exports, diversify export baskets, and increase the global presence of high-quality Indian food products.
