MANGALDAI: The relentless efforts of the Indian Army to engage youth of the insurgency-infested region of Udalguri were exhibited during the successful conduct of a two-month long Mobile Repair Skill Development Programme which commenced from November 11 last year.
Thirty youths of different ethnicity and economically backward class were selected to participate in the programme by the troops of Red Horns Division stationed at Golondi in Udalguri. Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, Dilip Das took part in the valedictory function on Saturday and appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavana.
The skill development programme has opened an avenue of employment for all of them and would help them to fight the scourge of poverty, said one of the 30 participants in his effusive praise towards the scheme.
