India, Sweden to Discuss Ways to Strengthen Collaboration in Various Sectors

India and Sweden will evaluate ways to strengthen bilateral relations across different sectors on Friday, including innovation, India Unlimited, the joint body of the Embassy of India in Sweden, and the Sweden-India Business Council said on Monday.

The discussion will be part of “India Sweden Innovation Day 2020″ on The New Normal” -an event organised jointly by India Unlimited with the Embassy of India in Sweden, Embassy of India in Sweden, Sweden India Business Council and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on November 27, 2020. Up to 500 participants will take part in the event, according to the announcement.

India Unlimited said in a statement that the one-day virtual event would emphasis on the role of public-private partnerships in the new normal, re-engineering India Sweden’s development again.

The event also aims to deepen relations between the Swedish and Indian governments in the field of innovation through a strategic partnership for innovation and is based on a shared commitment to drive prosperity and address global challenges such as sustainable development, health-technology, etc.

It will bring together government stakeholders with other main organisations to address energy collaborations, secure travel, collaborative innovation, sustainable business models, civil and cyber security, healthcare technology skills and technology start-ups.

Mr. Klas Molin, Sweden’s Ambassador to India, said in the statement, “Since the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Sweden in 2018, the innovation partnership has become our powerhouse of relationships and gained strength, a common thread that extends through all our collaborative areas such as health, road safety, sustainable technology. As we rebuild stronger, India is a trusted innovation partner.”

Mr. Sanjoo Malhotra, CEO India Unlimited stated that in recent history, COVID-19 has been the biggest disruptive force. The key to overcoming some of the difficult problems around the world is creativity. Only if used professionally and ethically can inventions and developments govern the decade ahead.

He added, “We are all now entering a new age of responsible and transformative technological progress that is inclusive, cares for and impacts the environment. We’ll have to look at how India and Sweden can tackle this crisis together and create a prosperous future for them.”
