NEW DELHI: The recruitment scenario may be grim right now, but the market is gearing up for a U-turn and there’s already a silver lining in the automobiles sector, which is actively hiring for production, manufacturing, sales, business development and quality control jobs. According to the findings of TimesJobs RecruiteX December 2019 report, the M-o-M (month-on-month) growth in talent demand in the automobile sector stood at 8%.
TimesJobs RecruiteX is a monthly recruitment index that records the demand and supply of talent at India Inc.
Projects/infrastructure sector posted the highest growth of 14% (M-o-M) in talent demand, the index noted. This was followed by the automobile/auto component/auto ancillary sector which recorded 8% uptick in November 2019 as compared to December 2019.
In terms of year-on-year (Y-o-Y) analysis, retail, projects/infrastructure and logistics/warehousing industries witnessed maximum growth in talent demand. While, the retail sector posted over 30% growth in talent demand, the projects/infrastructure sector saw a 20% upturn in the talent demand.
Commenting on the findings, Sanjay Goyal, business head, TimesJobs and TechGig said, “The hiring sentiment right now is hinting at a ‘revival mode’. The automobile sector is a classic example here. The sector is undergoing a major revamp in its offerings as electric vehicles, and alongside it is also prepping up its personnel requirement to fit the new scheme of things. In December 2019, the sector was actively looking for professionals who can make (R&D) and sell the new product lines. The production/manufacturing and sales business development were most in-demand job profiles in Dec 2019 in the automobile sector. This is a much-needed push in the recruitment market.”
Content/editor/journalist were the most sought-after job profiles, while IT/telecom and customer services/tele-calling were the most in-demand profiles, the report noted.
Tier-II cities were the top job hubs, with Ahmedabad recording the highest growth of 10% in talent demand. This was followed by Chandigarh which recorded a growth of 9%.
Freshers (professionals with less than two years of work experience) were most sought after with 18% growth in talent demand, the index further mentioned. This was followed by the demand for professionals with 10-20 years of work experience.
