India, China to Hold Joint Military Drill ‘Hand-in-Hand 2019’ in Meghalaya

Shillong-based Defence Spokesperson, Wing Commander Ratnakar Singh said the Chinese contingent from the Tibet Military command comprising of 130 personal and the Indian Contingent of similar strength will participate in the 14 day long training exercise.

The Indian and Chinese militaries will hold a joint military exercise ‘Hand-in-Hand 2019’ at the state-of-the-art Joint Training Node at Umroi Cantonment in Meghalaya from December 7 to 20, the Defence Ministry said on Monday.

Shillong-based Defence Spokesperson, Wing Commander Ratnakar Singh said the Chinese contingent from the Tibet Military command comprising of 130 personal and the Indian Contingent of similar strength will participate in the 14 day long training exercise.

He said the exercise is planned at the company level with respective Battalion Headquarters controlling the training.

“The aim of the exercise is to practice joint planning and conduct of counter terrorist operation in semi urban terrain,” Singh said.

He said the exercise schedule is focused upon training on various lectures and drills associated with counter terrorist handling and firing with each others weapons, battle obstacles course, special heliborne operations and case studies of various operations carried out in counter terrorist environment.
