Before EU Delegation Visit, Army Briefs Foreign Diplomats on Pakistan-Sponsored Terror

Some of the countries represented in the briefing were the US, UAE, Afghanistan, Japan, Russia and Israel.

The Indian Army briefed a delegation of defence attachés from different countries just ahead of the visit by European Union delegation to Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

The briefing comes days after Pakistan targeted civilians in Tangdhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir at the Line of Control last week.

Sources said a briefing and presentation were made giving out the details of recent ceasefire violations and attempts to push in terrorists since the abrogation of Article 370.

Some of the countries represented in the briefing were the US, UAE, Afghanistan, Japan, Russia and Israel.

Currently, a delegation of European Union Member of Parliament is in Srinagar to interact with civil and military officials along with civilians to get a reality check on the situation in the Kashmir Valley.

These briefings and visits are a part of the Narendra Modi government’s outreach to the international community to give a sense of what’s happening in Kashmir and how Pakistan is backing terrorist groups, sources said.

After the abrogation of Article 370, there has been a spike in terror violence targeting civilians in the Valley. Eight civilians have been killed by terrorists till now. Attacks using grenades, petrol bombs and shootings in civil areas have also taken place to scare the common people.

Sources said while there have been some official presentations but there have been several interactions done informally at various diplomatic levels to call out Pakistan’s propaganda on Kashmir.

Last week, Pakistan planned a visit for diplomats and journalists close to the Line of Control along the Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir territory, but the visit was marked by protests by locals. This too has been brought to the notice of the international community.
