National Aluminium Company Limited has paid about ₹1,083 crore as dividend to the Government of India for FY 2025-26, marking the highest-ever dividend payout to the Centre by the Navratna public sector enterprise.
The payout reflects NALCO’s strong financial performance during the year and the government’s 51.28% equity holding in the company. NALCO operates across bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and captive power generation, making it one of India’s major integrated aluminium producers.
Government of India Receives Record Dividend
The Government of India currently holds 51.28% of NALCO’s equity capital.
For FY 2025-26, NALCO declared total dividends of about ₹2,112 crore across interim and final payouts. Based on the Centre’s majority shareholding, the government’s share amounts to approximately ₹1,083 crore.
The payout exceeds the ₹988.88 crore dividend that NALCO paid to the Government of India for FY 2024-25.
NALCO had described the FY 2024-25 government dividend as its highest-ever payout at the time, making the latest payment another significant financial milestone for the company.
FY 2025-26 Delivered Record Financial Performance
NALCO reported its strongest-ever annual financial performance in FY 2025-26.
The company recorded its highest-ever revenue from operations, profit before tax and profit after tax during the year, supported by strong operational performance across its major aluminium and alumina businesses.
NALCO also achieved record sales in key segments, including domestic alumina and aluminium metal, reinforcing the financial base behind the higher dividend distribution.
The company had reported a profit after tax of ₹5,815.76 crore for FY 2025-26.
Interim and Final Dividends Lift Total Payout
NALCO paid interim dividends totalling ₹10.50 per equity share during FY 2025-26, amounting to ₹1,928.46 crore.
Shareholders subsequently approved a final dividend of ₹1 per equity share at the company’s 45th Annual General Meeting, representing another ₹183.66 crore.
Together, these distributions took the company’s total dividend payout for FY 2025-26 to approximately ₹2,112.12 crore.
The company’s equity shares have a face value of ₹5 each.
NALCO Remains a Key Aluminium PSU
NALCO is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Mines.
Its integrated operations include the Panchpatmali bauxite mines and alumina refinery at Damanjodi, along with an aluminium smelter, captive power plant and captive coal mines at Angul in Odisha.
The company has a bauxite mining capacity of 68.25 lakh tonnes per annum, normative alumina refinery capacity of 21 lakh tonnes per annum and aluminium smelting capacity of 4.60 lakh tonnes per annum.
This integrated structure gives NALCO control over much of its aluminium value chain and supports its position as one of India’s major producers of alumina and primary aluminium.
Strong Earnings Support Expansion Strategy
NALCO is pursuing a broader expansion strategy across mining, alumina, aluminium and energy while strengthening its position in downstream aluminium manufacturing.
The company has stated that domestic aluminium demand remains on a strong growth trajectory, supported by infrastructure, transportation, power, renewable energy and manufacturing requirements.
Its record FY 2025-26 performance gives the public sector enterprise a stronger financial base for capacity expansion while continuing to deliver returns to shareholders.
Record Dividend Marks Another Milestone for NALCO
The ₹1,083 crore dividend to the Government of India marks another financial milestone for NALCO following its record FY 2025-26 performance.
With strong earnings, majority government ownership and continuing investment across the aluminium value chain, NALCO is strengthening its contribution both as a profitable public sector enterprise and as a strategic producer supporting India’s expanding industrial economy.
