Singh , the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, New and Renewable Energy and Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, today said that the government is aiming to push electricity for cooking in a big way as it will provide the poor strata of the society a cheaper option for their day to day requirement, move the nation towards self-reliance and make it independent from imports.

Describing the north-east as the link between two fundamental pillars of India’s foreign policy — Neighbourhood First and Act East — foreign secretary Harsh Shringla said on Thursday that India was working with its neighbours and other friendly countries like Japan to improve infrastructure and connectivity in the region, while also facilitating greater regional integration.

Over 3100 Km NH Constructed Against A Target of About 2700 Km

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has surpassed its target for construction of National Highways in the country till the past weekend. During April to August this year, 3181 kilometre NH length was constructed against the target of 2771 kms for this period. This includes 2104 kms by State PWDs, 879 kms by NHAI, and 198 kms by NHIDCL.
