‘Remote Voting’ Facility May be Launched in 2024 LS Polls: CEC

Chief election commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora on Saturday said that ‘remote voting’ facility — enabling persons who cannot be at their polling booths on election day for different reasons, to exercise their franchise from a remote location — may be offered in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, with first pilot project likely to start in the next 2-3 months.

India, France Working on Third Joint Space Mission: ISRO Chairman

India and France are working on their third joint satellite mission, even as the bilateral space collaboration is entering into multiple domains, including human spaceflight programme, Isro Chairman K Sivan said.
Sivan, also secretary in the department of space, said many French companies are keen to tap into opportunities thrown up by recent reforms injected into the space sector by the Government.

India-UK Cancer Research Initiative

The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Cancer Research UK (CRUK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a Cancer Research Initiative, “Affordable Approaches to Cancer” on 14th November 2018 during the Inaugural Researcher’s Summit held from 14th – 16th November 2018 in New Delhi. The broad aim of the research initiative is to support high quality research to deliver innovative and translatable outputs that accelerate progress against cancer outcomes in both the countries, and which also have the potential to have major global impact.

South Korean Defence Minister Suh Wook to Visit India This Week

“From Thursday to Saturday, Suh will visit India and meet with his Indian counterpart, Rajnath Singh, to talk about working together on military technologies. Suh will take part in the opening ceremony of the Korea-India Friendship Park. The two countries agreed to build it in 2019,” the media outlet reported.

International Standards for AYUSH Products

The Ministry of AYUSH has established Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy (PCIM&H). The Pharmacopoeia Commission has published 645 standards of Ayurveda Single drugs, 202 compound Ayurveda Drug, 298 Unani single drug & 150 Unani Compound drug, 139 Siddha drugs & 1117 Homoeopathic Drugs standards are published in the form of respective Pharmacopoeias.

Inter-Linking of River Projects

Draft Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Godavari-Cauvery link project consisting of three links viz; Godavari (Inchampalli/Janampet) – Krishna (Nagarjunasagar), Krishna (Nagarjunasagar) – Pennar (Somasila), Pennar (Somasila)-Cauvery (Grand Anicut) link projects has been completed by National Water Development Agency (NWDA) and circulated to party States in March 2019. The comments of party States have been deliberated in a virtual meeting held on 18.09.2020.
