India to Host the First Internet Governance Forum in the Country

Shri Anil Kumar Jain, the CEO, National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology(MeitY) and the Chairman of Coordination Committee, India Internet Governance Forum 2021 (IGF), announced today the launch of India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF) -2021 in a Press Conference, organised at Electronics Niketan, New Delhi. IIGF- 2021 will be planned for three days, starting from 20th October, 2021. The theme of this year’s meeting is Inclusive Internet for Digital India.

Six Indian Airports Will Use Facial-Recognition Technology To Ease Biometric Boarding System

According to an official statement, the civil aviation ministry announced a policy on ‘Digi Yatra’ in August 2018 that intends to provide “contactless, seamless, and paperless handling of passengers at airports from the entry gate of the terminal to the boarding point”. Work has been awarded to implement Biometric Boarding System (BBS) in six airports which include Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Varanasi and Vijayawada, said Singh.

Know All About e-RUPI, the New Digital Payment Instrument

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi  on August 2nd launched digital payment solution e-RUPI, a cashless and contactless instrument for digital payment. Prime Minister said that the eRUPI voucher is going to play a huge role in making Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) more effective in digital transactions in the country and will give a new dimension to digital governance.   He said e-RUPI is a symbol of how India is progressing by connecting people’s lives with technology.

Govt has Taken Number of Measures to Strengthen Coastal, Offshore and Maritime Security: Union Minister Ajay Bhatt

The Government has taken a number of measures to strengthen coastal, Offshore and maritime security. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt said that the Navy, Coast Guard and State Marine Police along with other agencies such as Customs and Port Trusts patrol the Maritime Zone of India using surface and air assets to detect and check infiltration.

Cabinet Approves MoU between IIST and TU Delft, the Netherlands for Research Collaboration

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indian Institute of Space science and Technology (IIST) and The Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), for carrying out the Academic programmes and Research activities involving students and faculty members in each institution signed on April 09, 2021 and May 17, 2021 at respective institutes and exchanged by email.

Fast Track Special Courts are Dedicated Courts for Swift Justice for Victims of Sexual Offences and Strengthen the Deterrence Framework for Sexual Offenders

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the continuation of 1023 Fast Track Special Court (FTSCs) including 389 exclusive POCSO Courts as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) from 01.04.2021 to 31.03.2023 with an outlay of Rs. 1572.86 crore (Rs.971.70 crore as Central Share and Rs.601.16 crore as State share). Central Share is to be funded from Nirbhaya Fund. The Scheme was launched on 02.10.2019.

Parliament Passes Landmark ‘Inland Vessels Bill, 2021’ to Repeal and Replace the Existing Inland Vessels Act, 1917

Parliament on Monday passed the Inland Vessels Bill, 2021, which aims to replace over 100 years old Inland Vessels Act, 1917 (1 of 1917) and usher a new era in the inland water transport sector and also to fulfil the vision of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to make the Legislative framework user friendly and promote ease of doing business. Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways moved the bill in Rajya Sabha today. Now the bill will be sent for the assent of President of India.
