India has very clearly conveyed to the US, Russia, France and many of its partner countries that military platforms and weapons required by the Indian armed forces to confront myriad security challenges have to be manufactured on Indian soil, defence minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday.
The government is exploring ways to allow companies to merge, expand and operate without multiple bureaucratic approvals so as to avoid subsequent court battles, Telecommunications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in an interview at his office in New Delhi on Thursday. He aims to present new rules in February.
“Banks play a big role in the prosperity of the country, and depositors’ protection is equally important for the prosperity of banks,” Modi said at an event organised by the Union ministry of finance on Depositors First: Guaranteed Time-bound Deposit Insurance Payment up to ₹5 lakh. “If we want to save banks, then depositors have to be protected.”
Various steps have been taken by the government of India to increase the farmer’s income in which enhancement of agri- exports is also one of the main focus. Farmers can take advantage of the wider international market through agriculture export which leads to an increased income.
The schemes aim at increasing productivity by providing improved looms & accessories to the handloom weavers at 90% subsidized rates, skill upgradation through training programmes, design innovation & product diversification by engaging designers, production of varieties of handloom products, including traditional & contemporary for domestic as well as overseas markets. This Ministry promotes export of handloom products through organisation/participation in international fairs/exhibitions, Buyer-Seller Meet, Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet etc.
Under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS), the electronic Point of Sale (ePoS) devices at the Fair Price Shops (FPSs) are operated by the FPS dealers. Further, to ensure regular delivery of subsidised foodgrains to the differently abled and old-age National Food Security Act (NFSA) beneficiaries, with no other adult member in the household and who are not in position to visit the FPSs, all States/UTs are advised to implement mechanisms for special dispensation of foodgrains to such beneficiaries, either through home-delivery or through their nominated persons.
In order to curb opportunistic takeovers/acquisitions of Indian companies due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government, vide Press Note 3 (2020) dated 17.04.2020 read with Foreign Exchange Management (Non-debt Instruments) Amendment Rules, 2020 dated 22.04.2020, amended the FDI policy according to which an entity of a country, which shares land border with India or where the beneficial owner of an investment into India is situated in or is a citizen of any such country, can invest only under the Government route.

The total cost of Ken-Betwa link project has been assessed at Rs.44,605 crore at 2020-21 price levels. The Union Cabinet has approved central support of Rs.39,317 crore for the project, covering grant of Rs.36,290 crore and loan of Rs.3,027 crore.
