HFCL Bags ₹ 2,467 Crore Order for Defence Communication Network

New Delhi [India], Aug 20 (ANI): Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (HFCL) said on Tuesday it has received its largest-ever purchase order worth Rs 2,467 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) for turnkey development, operations, and maintenance of a communication network for the Indian Army.
The project is to be completed within 18 months. The project has additional operations and maintenance component of Rs 862 crore to be realised over a period of 10 years from the commissioning of the network. The combined value of the project thus stands at Rs 3,329 crore.
Funded by the Department of Telecom, the turnkey project entails design, development, deployment, and maintenance of converged nationwide IP/MPLS backbone with 219 X access networks and integrated IMS based communication solutions under the network for spectrum programme.
“This next-generation network will connect various locations of the Indian Army while also integrating all existing and legacy networks with this advanced IP/MPLS network to offer seamless and secure transmission of voice, data, video, and multi-media,” HFCL said in a statement.
HFCL is a telecom infrastructure developer, system integrator and manufacturer of high-end telecom equipment and optical fibre cables, having manufacturing facilities at Solan, Goa, and Chennai. (ANI)

HSL Confident of Getting Refit Order of Fourth EKM Submarine: CMD

The Defence Acquisition Council cleared the proposal for medium refit of four Russia-made Sindhughosh class submarines in 2014, for which the HSL was the only qualified domestic bidder to submit a proposal to take it up at a cost of around ₹1,500 crore. The HSL had successfully completed the refit of INS Sindhukirti. The work began in August, 2017.

Retirement Age for All Paramilitary Forces Now 60

At present, the retirement age of officers of the rank of the commandant and below in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), or paramilitary forces, is fixed at 57 years while officers of the rank of Deputy Inspector General and above retire on attaining the age of 60.

India Aims to Export Sukhoi Upgrade

Among the nations that India could approach with the upgrade solution is Malaysia that is already interested in collaboration for maintenance and upkeep of its fleet of 18 Su-30 fighters. India plans to help Malaysia set up a Maintenance Repair and Overhaul unit there and train its technicians as part of bilateral cooperation pacts. Other potential partners for the program could be Vietnam which operates 46 fighters of the type.

The Army chief informed the government about preparedness of his force when it was considering various options, including carrying out an aerial raid, to punish Pakistan for the Pulwama terror attack.
Gen. Rawat, at a closed door interaction with a group of retiring Army officials on Monday, said the force was combat ready for any hostilities from Pakistan Army after the Balakot strikes, the sources said.
