National security planners on Sunday deployed anti-drone weapons to secure VVIPs during the Republic Day parade – the first instance of India attempting to neutralise the growing threat from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) — according to people familiar with the matter.
The plant, which is an export-oriented unit, will be positioned to showcase the ‘Make in India’ capabilities of Uttar Pradesh, especially in the defence manufacturing sector.
“Jindal Defence, part of O P Jindal Group, today announced its advent into small arms manufacturing in India. In a move aimed towards empowering indigenous manufacturing, Jindal Defence has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Taurus Armas S.A., of Brazil for manufacturing an array of small arms,” an official statement said in this regard said.
Rear Admiral VK Saxena, the chairman and managing director of the Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), which is building the corvettes, told news agency PTI that all trials of the ship had been successfully completed and the delivery was fixed for the end of this month.

“The Defence Acquisition Council [DAC] approved prototype testing of trawl assemblies designed by Defence Research and Development Organisation [DRDO] for T-72A and T-90S tanks, providing an important indigenous mine clearance capability to the [Indian] Army,” said the PIB in a statement.
