Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY) has provided aid to more than 39 lakh people saving around Rs. 12,000 crores (US$ 1.66 billion) since 23rd September 2018.
AB-PMJAY is a free-of-cost treatment flagship under current government. Many events are planned across the country to celebrate its first anniversary since launch and the day will be named as ‘Ayushman Bharat Diwas’.
‘Ayushman Bharat Diwas’ aim to create awareness about the scheme and help the people who are in need.
As per the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan’s statement during the review of the scheme, “I am pleased to know that more than 39 lakh people have availed cashless treatment worth over Rs 6,100 crore for serious illnesses since the launch of AB-PMJAY. This has resulted in savings of Rs. 12,000 crore (US$ 1.66 billion) to the beneficiary families.”
The scheme is been appreciated so far and focus is now on maintaining the momentum in its implementation across the country. Health Minister has asked the states to put emphasis on scaling up the scheme and providing health services to all and reach all parts of country.
“The Prime Minister has envisioned the scheme for the health and wellness of the poorest and most vulnerable of the people. We have to ensure that the vision of our beloved and inspirational Prime Minister is fulfilled,” he emphasised.
The newly designed grievance management portal was also introduced in the review meeting under AB-PMJAY. This portal will help the members of general public to register their grievances and receive assisted support.
Two-week period of September from 15th to 30th will be marked as the ‘Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara’ when numerous activities will be held to create awareness and celebrate gift of health to the nation. A national event “Gyan Sangam” will be organised from 29th to 30th September to emphasise on the progress and achievements of the scheme.
The Union Health Minister also examined the cyber security and privacy mechanisms set up at the National Health Authority.
