This New Species of Eel-Like Fish Popped Out of A Tap in Kerala

“Usually eel-loaches are found in fast-flowing streams of south and south-east Asia. Some species are found in Indonesia and the North-Eastern parts of India. This is the first species found in the Western Ghats and more importantly, this is the first subterranean eel-loach species to be found in the world,” says Rajeev Ragavan, assistant professor at the Department of Fisheries Resource Management at KUFOS, who is leading the team studying the species.

Security Forces Given Clearance To Shoot Down Drones At Border: Report

“Security agencies deployed along the international border have been given the clearance to shoot down drone crossing the boundary and flying at 1,000 feet and below,” government sources told news agency ANI. For any drone flying at heights above 1,000 feet, the final clearance will have to be taken from the agencies concerned as the flying object can be an aeroplane also, the sources said.

Tanzanian Navy Chief Receives Indian Ships on Port of Call

The four-day port of call to Tanzania on the eastern coast of Africa is part of Indian Navy’s overseas deployment programme aimed at building “bridges of friendship” with friendly nations. The ships – Tir, Sujata, Shardul and Indian Coast Guard Ship Sarathi – which belong to Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron will be deployed at the Zanzibar port from October 15-17 after spending a day at Dar-es-Salaam.
