Indian telecommunications technology company Subex Limited has secured a three-year international contract worth approximately US$700,000 to deploy its artificial intelligence-powered HyperSense Fraud Management platform for a leading African mobile operator. The agreement strengthens the Bengaluru-based company’s presence in Africa’s telecommunications market and expands the international reach of Indian-developed fraud detection technology.
Subex disclosed the agreement to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) on October 9, 2026, under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations.
The new engagement involves another operating company within a major global telecommunications group. The customer has selected HyperSense to strengthen fraud detection, improve investigations and address emerging security risks across conventional mobile communication services and mobile money operations.
The contract represents another international deployment of Subex’s telecom analytics technology, highlighting the growing role of Indian software companies in protecting digital communication networks and financial transactions.
Three-Year Contract Expands Subex’s Presence in Africa
The agreement covers the deployment of Subex’s HyperSense Fraud Management solution over three years. According to the company’s October 9 announcement, the African operator belongs to an international telecommunications group with which Subex already maintains a business relationship.
The new contract extends the company’s fraud management capabilities to another operating company within that group, expanding the use of its technology across the organisation’s telecommunications operations.
Subex will provide software capabilities designed to identify suspicious activity, investigate potential fraud and help the operator respond to emerging threats. The platform will address risks arising from both conventional mobile communication services and mobile financial transactions.
The agreement has an approximate value of US$700,000 across its three-year duration. Although the customer has not been publicly identified, Subex has confirmed that the engagement involves an international telecommunications operator.
The contract follows an earlier three-year African HyperSense agreement announced in August 2026, valued at US$600,000. The October announcement therefore represents an additional business development rather than a repetition of that earlier contract.
HyperSense Uses Artificial Intelligence to Detect Telecom Fraud
HyperSense Fraud Management is an AI-powered software platform developed by Subex to help telecommunications operators identify, investigate and manage fraud across their networks and digital services.
Modern telecommunications networks generate enormous volumes of information from voice calls, messaging services, data connections, roaming activities and customer transactions. Analysing these records can help operators identify unusual behaviour associated with fraudulent activities.
Traditional fraud detection systems often rely on predefined rules that identify known suspicious patterns. While effective against established fraud methods, these systems may struggle to recognise new techniques that do not match existing detection rules.
HyperSense combines telecommunications domain expertise with artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify suspicious patterns across large datasets. Its analytical capabilities help operators examine activity that differs from expected customer or network behaviour.
The platform also supports fraud investigations through analytics and workflow capabilities, enabling security teams to prioritise cases and investigate potential threats more efficiently.
By applying AI to telecommunications data, HyperSense seeks to improve the detection of evolving fraud schemes while supporting faster operational responses.
Mobile Money Fraud Creates New Challenges for African Telecom Operators
One of the important aspects of the latest agreement is its focus on protecting both mobile communications and mobile money services.
Mobile money has become an important financial service across several African countries, allowing customers to transfer funds, make payments and access financial services through mobile networks.
Unlike conventional banking systems, mobile money services often operate through telecommunications infrastructure and networks of authorised agents. This model has expanded access to digital financial services, particularly in communities where traditional banking facilities are limited.
However, the integration of telecommunications and financial transactions creates additional fraud risks. Criminal activities may involve identity misuse, unauthorised transfers, account compromise, social engineering or the exploitation of weaknesses in transaction processes.
Fraudulent activity can also cross between telecommunications and financial services. For example, criminals may exploit compromised mobile accounts or manipulate communication channels to facilitate unauthorised financial transactions.
Detecting these threats requires an understanding of both network behaviour and financial transaction patterns.
Subex’s HyperSense platform is designed to analyse telecommunications and mobile money activity within a broader fraud management framework. This allows operators to examine suspicious behaviour across services rather than treating communication and financial risks as entirely separate problems.
AI-Based Fraud Detection Strengthens Digital Financial Security
Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly important in fraud management because criminal techniques can change rapidly as digital services expand.
Machine learning systems can examine historical transaction patterns and identify deviations that may indicate suspicious behaviour. These capabilities help fraud investigators focus on activities requiring closer examination.
In telecommunications, relevant indicators may include unusual calling behaviour, unexpected changes in account activity, suspicious usage patterns or transactions inconsistent with established customer behaviour.
AI-based systems can also help identify connections between different events, providing investigators with a broader view of potentially coordinated fraudulent activity.
However, automated detection does not establish that fraud has occurred. Suspicious transactions require appropriate verification and investigation to distinguish genuine threats from legitimate customer activity.
The effectiveness of fraud detection also depends on the quality of available data, the suitability of analytical models and the operator’s ability to act on identified risks.
HyperSense addresses these requirements by combining analytical capabilities with investigation workflows and telecommunications-specific expertise.
For operators providing both communication and financial services, such integration supports more coordinated monitoring of fraud risks across their digital platforms.
Subex Builds on Its Established African Telecom Business
Africa has been an important international market for Subex, which has supplied fraud management, revenue assurance and telecommunications analytics solutions to operators across the region.
In August 2026, the company announced a separate three-year HyperSense Fraud Management agreement with a leading African mobile operator belonging to a major international telecommunications group.
That engagement focused on identifying emerging fraud patterns across mobile networks and mobile money services. The agreement also reflected growing customer demand for integrated security solutions capable of protecting telecommunications and financial transactions.
Earlier, in May 2026, Subex announced an expansion of its relationship with a North African telecommunications operator to modernise revenue assurance and fraud management operations.
The project involved transitioning the operator to the HyperSense platform, incorporating AI-driven analytics, workflow automation and improved fraud detection capabilities.
Subex has also supplied fraud management technology to Ethio Telecom. In August 2022, the Ethiopian operator selected HyperSense to replace its earlier fraud management system and strengthen its ability to detect emerging telecommunications threats.
These engagements demonstrate Subex’s continuing involvement in Africa’s telecommunications technology ecosystem.
The October 9 agreement adds another customer deployment within an existing international group relationship, extending the company’s regional presence.
Subex Develops Indian AI Technology for Global Telecommunications Markets
Headquartered in Bengaluru, Subex Limited has more than three decades of experience in telecommunications business optimisation, analytics and fraud management.
The company provides software solutions to communications service providers across international markets, focusing on business assurance, fraud management and partner ecosystem management.
Its HyperSense portfolio incorporates artificial intelligence into telecommunications operations, allowing operators to analyse business information, identify risks and improve operational efficiency.
Business assurance technologies help operators detect potential revenue leakage arising from billing discrepancies, network transactions and operational processes.
Fraud management systems address suspicious activities that can create financial losses or compromise customer services.
Partner ecosystem management solutions support the administration of commercial relationships and settlement processes involving telecommunications partners.
Together, these technologies form part of the software infrastructure supporting modern telecommunications businesses.
Subex’s international contracts demonstrate how Indian-developed enterprise software can address specialised operational requirements in global industries.
Unlike consumer-facing applications, telecommunications fraud management involves complex analytical systems that must process large volumes of operational information and support decisions in demanding commercial environments.
The company’s continuing international engagements reflect the role of Indian technology firms in supplying specialised software products rather than relying exclusively on traditional IT services.
Managing Fraud Becomes More Important as Telecom Networks Expand
Telecommunications operators are increasingly responsible for services extending beyond conventional voice calls and messaging.
Mobile networks now support digital payments, internet connectivity, business applications and a growing range of connected devices.
This expansion creates additional opportunities for innovation but also introduces more complex security and fraud management requirements.
As customers use mobile accounts for financial transactions and other digital services, fraudulent activity can affect both telecommunications operators and their subscribers.
Operators must therefore maintain systems capable of examining suspicious behaviour across different services and responding to evolving threats.
AI-powered fraud management technologies offer tools for identifying unusual activity and improving investigative processes. Their deployment also supports stronger operational oversight as networks become more interconnected.
For African telecommunications companies, the integration of mobile money and conventional communication services makes cross-platform fraud detection particularly relevant.
Subex’s latest contract reflects the commercial demand for technologies that combine telecommunications expertise with artificial intelligence to address these emerging challenges.
Indian Telecom Software Exports Gain Further International Reach
The October 2026 contract highlights the export potential of India’s specialised software industry.
India has established a substantial international presence in information technology services, while domestic companies are also developing proprietary software products for specialised global markets.
Telecommunications analytics is one such area where Indian firms can compete through domain expertise, software engineering and experience in complex operating environments.
Subex’s HyperSense platform represents an Indian-developed technology offering intended for international communications service providers.
The three-year African contract strengthens the company’s overseas business while expanding the deployment of its fraud management technology.
It also illustrates the growing intersection between artificial intelligence, telecommunications infrastructure and digital financial security.
With its latest US$700,000 international contract, Subex continues to expand the global presence of Indian-developed AI-powered telecom software. The deployment of HyperSense in Africa reinforces India’s capabilities in specialised enterprise technology and contributes to the country’s growing role in delivering software solutions for secure digital communication and financial services.
