Indian Army Online Common Entrance Examination for Agnipath Scheme to Begin from 1 June

The recruitment process is structured in phases. The online examination acts as the initial filter, followed by physical recruitment rallies and medical examination for shortlisted candidates. This system gives the Army a wider digital reach while reducing crowding at early-stage rallies and ensuring that candidates first clear a common written assessment before entering the field-based stages.

The Indian Army’s Online Common Entrance Examination, or CEE, for enrolment under the Agnipath Scheme and the Regular Cadre will begin on 1 June 2026. According to News On AIR, the examination for the recruitment year 2027 will be conducted from 1 June to 12 June 2026, as announced by Guntur Army Recruiting Officer Colonel Rajath Suvarna in a press release.

The examination marks the first major stage of the Army’s recruitment process, placing candidates through a computer-based screening system before the next stages of selection. The move reflects the Indian Army’s continuing shift towards a more standardised, transparent and technology-driven recruitment model, where aspirants from different regions appear through a common digital platform before being shortlisted for physical and medical evaluation.

The official Join Indian Army portal has also displayed the option to download CEE admit cards and has listed a dedicated helpline for Online CEE-2026 queries. Regional recruitment notifications issued through the official portal mention that candidates are required to carry their admit card and Aadhaar card as proof of identity for the Online CEE, recruitment rally and medical test stages. They also specify biometric and identity verification procedures at examination centres, including Aadhaar-based checking, biometric capture, exam-hall allocation and exit verification.

For young aspirants, the immediate priority is to check the official Join Indian Army website, download the admit card, verify the reporting time and centre details, and carefully follow the instructions printed on the hall ticket. Regional notifications also state that examination centre gates open ahead of the scheduled exam time and close before the test begins, making punctuality essential.

The Agnipath recruitment cycle has become one of the most important youth-entry channels into the armed forces. By combining a national online examination with later physical and medical screening, the Army is attempting to balance scale, discipline, transparency and operational suitability. The 1 June start of the CEE therefore represents more than an exam date; it is the opening stage of a recruitment pipeline that will shape the next intake of young soldiers into the Indian Army.
