Central government has disbursed Rs. 2,071 crore (US$ 275 million) loan for 4,003 projects as a part of Agriculture Infrastructure fund, Agriculture minister Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar mentioned in a written reply to the parliament.
Government has sanctioned loan amount worth Rs. 6,098 crore (US$ 809 million) for 8,488 projects so far out of which Rs. 2,071 crore (US$ 275 million) has been disbursed. Madhya Pradesh witnessed biggest sanctions with 1,954 projects, followed by 1,424 projects in Andhra Pradesh, 900 projects in Karnataka, 684 projects in Uttar Pradesh, 654 projects from Rajasthan and 555 projects in Maharashtra.
As per the data provided in the parliament, primary agriculture cooperative societies have been the biggest beneficiaries across the state with 5,067 projects sanctioned followed by agri-entrepreneurs (2,576 projects) and individual farmers (685 projects). Farmer producer organizations and start up projects too received sanctions.
Started in 2020, Agriculture Infrastructure fund’s primary motive is providing medium-long term debt financing facility till 2025-26 for viable projects in the post harvesting and community farming through interest subventions and financial support.
