Paradip: Indian Navy Warships–INS Rana and INS Gharial will be opened for public viewing at Paradip port on November 24 and 25 as part of Navy Day celebrations.
Two warships of Indian Navy will arrive at Paradip port shortly ahead of Indian Navy Day to be celebrated on December 4. The warships will reach the prohibited region of Paradip.
Later, the civilians can get an opportunity to undertake a guided tour of India’s two front line warships for two days.
According to reports, the visitors will have to undergo a security check at Gopabandhu Stadium. Later, they will be taken to the prohibited area through a special bus to see the warships.
Worth mentioning, INS Rana is a Rajput-class destroyer active in service with Indian Navy since June 1982. INS Gharial is a Magar-class warship, one of the largest ships in the Indian Navy.
Navy Day in India is celebrated on December 4 every year to recognise the achievements and role of the Indian Navy to the country. This day was chosen to celebrate the navy day as on that day in 1971, during Operation Trident, the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani vessels including PNS Khaibar, killing hundreds of Pakistani Navy personnel.
On the day, those killed in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 are also remembered.
