JAISALMER: The Indian Army team has topped in all the three stages of the International Army Scouts Master Competition held in Jaisalmer Military Station. Russia and China bagged the second and third position, respectively.
Stage III of the competition, which tested the reconnaissance squad in full combat mode, negotiated 22 obstacles in a semi-urban target area. The scouts trail spread over 1.3 km was designed by the Russian Scout Training Course and posed a formidable challenge to all teams in the Sun & Sand environment of Jaisalmer Military Station.
The teams were to complete the obstacle course with least penalties. The stage was conducted in two contiguous segments to include the one mile run and the obstacle course.
The reconnaissance squad negotiated the obstacle course according to the sequenced tactical drills, which involved stealthily approaching the target area, execute specific tasks such as controlled demolition & recovery of crypto material and thereafter exfiltrate.
Earlier, in the second stage, teams had competed in the infantary combat vehicles driving skills through obstacles, survival in Nuclear, Biological, Chemical (NMC) battlefield, ammunition delivery & ferrying loads across obstacle. In the 1st stage, tactical drills of mounting on a helicopter by the scout squads to infiltrate behind enemy lines and to evaluate the cross-country navigation skills by night over a distance of approximately 15 kilometers in hostile territory.
Teams from Armenia, Belarus, China, Uzbekistan, Russia, Sudan, Kazakhstan are participating in the fifth edition of Army International ScoutMasters competition being held for the first time in India from 5 to 16 August. Indian Army is participating in the competition for the first time as hosts and their stupendous performance in Stage 1 is a true reflection of the highest standards of physical fitness, training and professionalism of the Indian Army.
