Study Finds A New Potential Therapeutic Target for Cancer

Daily Home-Based Meditation can Increase the Amount of Grey Matter in Brains of Patients with Mild Alzheimer’s Disease: Study

Home meditation practice typically lasted 8-12 weeks.  Studies where it did extend for longer, did not include brain changes.  This is one of the first on brain changes in MCI and Alzheimer’s disease that explores the effects of silent, sitting meditation alone, practiced daily over a long term. The techniques are similar to those commonly practiced by regular meditation practitioners yet simplified enough to train a patient with early memory loss.

Union Health Ministry releases National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5) Phase II Findings

The main objective of successive rounds of the NFHS is to provide reliableand comparable data relating to health and family welfare and other emerging issues. The NFHS-5 survey work has been conducted in around 6.1 lakh samplehouseholds from 707 districts (as on March, 2017) of the country; covering724,115 women and 101,839 men to provide disaggregated estimates up to districtlevel. All the results of NFHS-5 are available in the public domain on the Ministry website (www.mohfw.gov.in).

Covaxin Offers Protection Against Multiple Variants: Study

“We studied in a cohort for six months where Covaxin induced good memory response. So we are confident that till six months of full immunisation, no booster dose is required. A follow up of this cohort thereafter, will help us to understand if we really need booster shots or not,” said Dr Nimesh Gupta, corresponding author of the study at NII. “The best protection was found against alpha then delta and the least was against beta variants,” he added.

The Demand for Ayush-64 will Now be Met Easily; CCRAS Transfers Technology to 46 Companies

Ayush-64 has been developed by the CCRAS, which is the premier institution for research in Ayurveda under the Ministry of Ayush. It was developed in 1980 for the treatment of malaria. During the first wave of Covid in March 2020, some scientific studies found it to be very effective in mild and asymptomatic and mild to moderate infection of Covid-19. It also has properties of fighting viruses, increases body’s immunity and reduces fever, helping patients recover quickly.

Indian Researchers Develop Better Therapeutics to Treat Autism Spectrum Disorder

A group of Indian researchers have developed a compound called “6BIO” that can provide a better method to treat Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They have determined the potency of the compound in a pre-clinical mice model. This is the first compound that has been proved in pre-clinical evaluation to have the potential for improving daily activities like learning and recollecting new tasks in patients with ASD/ Intellectual disability (ID).

For 1st Time, Number of Fully Jabbed Surpasses Partially Vaccinated

As of Tuesday night, of the 755.4 million people who have received at least one shot of the Covid-19 vaccine in India, 380.7 million people are fully vaccinated (have received both shots) and another 374.7 million have received only one shot, according to data from the CoWIN dashboard. When seen alongside India’s estimated population of 940 million adults, this means that 40.3% of the country’s adults have been fully vaccinated while another 40.2% have been given a single jab so far.
