Utthita hasta padangusthasana is a standing asana that builds balance, improves concentration and promotes a sense of stability. The name comes from the Sanskrit utthita, meaning “stretched,” hasta, meaning “hand,” padangustha, meaning “big toe,” and asana, meaning “pose.”
