Over 95% Public Grievances Disposed Under Modi Govt

Delivering the keynote address at the national Workshop on e-Office here, the Minister said that public grievances have increased from 2 lakh in 2014 to 19 lakh at present with more than 95% disposal of cases, adding that the Government in 2019 has received 18.7 lakh public grievances and disposed of 18.1 lakh of them.

Cabinet Approves MoU Between India & Iceland on Sustainable Fisheries Development

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was apprised of and approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between India and Iceland in the field of Fisheries, according to a Press communication from PIB. The MoU was signed on 10 September 2019.

The salient features of the MoU are:

Creation of facilities for exchange of scientists and technical experts and their proper placement, especially in areas of estimating Total Allowable Catches in off-shore and deep sea areas.
Provision of training to fisheries professionals from key fisheries institutions in the various management aspects on areas of modern fisheries management and fish processing.
Exchange of scientific literature research findings and other information.
Exchange of experts/expertise to study the prospects of fishing.
Processing and marketing of products from high seas fisheries for entrepreneurship development.

The MoU is expected to strengthen the existing friendly relations between India and Iceland and enhance consultation and cooperation on fisheries including consultation on bilateral issues.

Vice President of Vietnam Calls on the President

Mrs Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, the Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam called on the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (February 13, 2020).

Welcoming the Vice President of Vietnam to India, the President said that India and Vietnam are bound by a rich history of civilizational and cultural links. Today, India-Vietnam relations are characterized as Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. India is privileged to share a strong development cooperation partnership with Vietnam. India is keen to promote greater capacity building in Vietnam through its flagship Technical and Economic Cooperation programme.

The President said that Vietnam is pivotal to India’s Act East Policy and its Indo-Pacific vision. Vietnam is also an invaluable link in India’s engagement with ASEAN. He congratulated Vietnam for assuming the Chairmanship of ASEAN as well as for becoming a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. He said India looks forward to working with Vietnam to deepen its global partnership.

India Ready to Host Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue Next Month

India is steadily putting in place building blocks for Indo-Pacific, a construct whose contours are defined differently by countries on either side of the oceans. Close on the heels of the EAS Conference on Maritime Security, New Delhi is gearing up to host the Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue next month.
