New Delhi, February 26: In a major step towards enhancing citizen convenience, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has partnered with Google to enable the display of authorised Aadhaar centres on Google Maps. The initiative aims to make it easier for residents across the country to locate verified Aadhaar service centres and access essential services seamlessly.
Under the collaboration, users will soon be able to identify nearby Aadhaar centres based on the specific services they provide, such as adult enrolment, child enrolment, or updates related to address and mobile numbers. The listing will also include important details like operating hours, parking availability, and accessibility features, including divyang-friendly infrastructure wherever applicable.
The facility is expected to be rolled out nationwide in the coming months.
Officials stated that the initiative will cover more than 60,000 Aadhaar centres across India, including state-of-the-art Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs). By integrating verified centres directly into Google Maps, the move seeks to eliminate misinformation and ensure residents are directed only to authorised facilities.
Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of UIDAI, said the collaboration aligns with the authority’s commitment to improving ease of living for Aadhaar number holders. He noted that the integration would make navigating authorised centres “simpler, faster, and more transparent.”
In the next phase of the partnership, UIDAI plans to use Google Business Profile to manage centre information and respond directly to public feedback. This is expected to create a more transparent and responsive service ecosystem.
Looking ahead, the collaboration may also enable direct appointment booking through the Google Maps interface, allowing residents to schedule visits efficiently and reduce waiting times.
Ms. Roli Agarwal, Country Head, Strategic Partnerships at Google India, said the integration of verified Aadhaar centres would help millions access trusted government services with confidence, bridging the gap between essential public infrastructure and citizens.
The partnership reflects the growing use of digital platforms to improve governance and public service delivery across India.
