According to the latest data from the industry association Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), passenger car exports from India surged by 43% in FY22, a total of 5,77,875 units. In FY22, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) topped the vertical, with Hyundai Motor India and Kia India coming in second and third. Utility vehicle exports increased by 46% to 2,01,036 units. Van exports increased to 1,853 units in FY22, up from 1,648 units in FY21.
The country’s largest automobile manufacturer, MSI, exported 2,35,670 passenger vehicles (PVs) in FY22, up from 94,938 units in FY21. Latin America, ASEAN, Africa, the Middle East, and neighbouring regions are among MSI’s top PV export markets, with Baleno, Dzire, Swift, S-Presso, and Brezza among its top five export models. MSI’s exports increased due to strong demand and enhanced semiconductor availability for export-oriented units. The Suzuki-Toyota partnership also aided in expanding customer reach.
Hyundai Motor India’s international dispatches increased by 24% to 1,29,260 units in FY22, up from 1,04,342 units in FY21. Similarly, Kia India shipped 50,864 units to the worldwide market in FY22, up from 40,458 units in FY21. In FY22, Volkswagen India shipped 43,033 vehicles, up from 31,089 in FY21. Renault India shipped 24,117 cars, whereas Honda Cars shipped 19,323 units in FY22.
