HMI Hosts “Swarnim Vijay Mashaal” : Celebrating 50 Years of India’s Victory in 1971 India-Pakistan War

The SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL arrived at the Institute atop Ceremonial Vehicle with a convoy led by Lt Col CP Rai from 4/8 Gorkha Rifles. The SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL is being taken all across India to pay respect to the brave solders who fought this historic war and liberalised Bangladesh, and also to generate public awareness about the sacrifice of country’s Armed Forces.

It was a proud moment in the history of HMI, Darjeeling that it hosted the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War “SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL” at the Institute the Institute premises on 2021 July 4, Sunday.

The SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL arrived at the Institute atop Ceremonial Vehicle with a convoy led by Lt Col CP Rai from 4/8 Gorkha Rifles. The SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL is being taken all across India to pay respect to the brave solders who fought this historic war and liberalised Bangladesh, and also to generate public awareness about the sacrifice of country’s Armed Forces.

At HMI Gp Capt Jai Kishan, Principal HMI, received the SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL with full honour and carried it to the amphitheatre. Members of the staff and family along with school children, lined up along the way to amphitheatre, paid respect to the Mashal with salute. The Mashal was suitably placed upon a specially designed podium for everyone’s view and hold the SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL on this proud moment.

On conclusion of this ceremonial programme The SWARNIM VIJAY MASHAAL was handed over to Lt Col CP Rai for its onward journey to HQ 123 Mtn Bde from where it will be taken to its countrywide journey continues.

HMI has a rich tradition of keeping the nation’s interest always on top and upholding the Indian Cultural Values. The Institute began the year 2021 by successfully conducting 75 hours’ nonstop Surya Namaskar from 9 to 12 Jan 2021 as a curtain raiser to Glorious 75 Years celebration of India’s Independence. The Institute also hoisted the Largest Indian Tricolour measuring 7500 sq ft (recognised as Indian & Asian Record) atop a peak in Sikkim Himalayas and named the peak as Trilochan Peak in honour of Late Trilochan Pokhrel, popularly known as Gandhi Pokhrel, the sole Freedom Fighter from Sikkim.

To mark the 7th International Day of Yoga the Institute organised a 21 Day Surya Namaskar Challenge from 1st to 21 Jun 2021 ( A Yogic Tribute to Corona warriors). Thousands of Yoga enthusiasts across the country participated in this event via social media.
