CCS Reviews West Asia Crisis; Focus on Safety of Indian Nationals and Regional Stability

New Delhi, March 1, 2026: The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, convened late Saturday evening to assess the rapidly evolving security situation in West Asia following recent air strikes in Iran and the subsequent escalation across parts of the Gulf region.

According to an official press release issued by the Press Information Bureau, the Committee was briefed on the February 28 air strikes in Iran and the ripple effects that have led to heightened tensions, including reported attacks in several Gulf countries. The developments have raised concerns about regional stability, commercial activity, and civilian safety.

Focus on Indian Expatriates

A key point of discussion was the safety and security of the large Indian expatriate community residing across West Asia.
