India Sets Up its First Wetland Conservation Centre in Chennai

India, on the occasion of Wetland Conservation Day on Tuesday, set up its first dedicated centre for conservation of wetlands, which occupy around 4.6 per cent of the country’s landmass. Named ‘Centre for Wetland Conservation and Management’ (CWCM), the specialised institution is a part of the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).

National Marine Turtle Action Plan Launched

Considering the need to have a conservation paradigm for marine mega fauna and marine turtles, the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has released ‘Marine Mega Fauna Stranding Guidelines’ and ‘National Marine Turtle Action Plan’ in New Delhi today.

India’s First Pollinator Park Inaugurated in Haldwani

Sprawling across four acres, India’s first pollinators park was inaugurated on Tuesday at Haldwani in Nainital district of Uttarakhand.
The park was inaugurated by Peter Smetacek, a butterfly expert and it has around 50 different pollinator species, which include various species of butterflies, honeybees, birds and other insects.
