Tap Water Supply Reaches 66% Schools & 60% Anganwadi Centres

In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, to ensure clean tap water supply to children in schools, anganwadi centres and ashramshalas (residential schools) for their wellbeing and better health as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, on 2nd October, 2020, a campaign was launched to make provision of tap water supply in these institutions. In less than ten months since the launch of this campaign, provision of tap water has been made in 6.85 lakh (66%) schools, 6.80 lakh (60%) anganwadi centres (AWCs)and 2.36 lakh (69%) Gram Panchayats and Community Healthcare Centres (CHCs) in villages across India.

Shri G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Culture, Tourism and Development of North East Region said that NESAC (North Eastern Space Applications Centre) has enabled the States to address issues and challenges of North Eastern region with the support of space technology. “The organisation can also provide the required strategic inputs for the entire region for its overall development and strategic planning”, he said.

At present Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project is the only sanctioned project of High Speed Rail (HSR) in the country which is under execution with the financial and technical assistance from Government of Japan. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), namely National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has been formed to implement the Project.
