Govt to Come Out with Incentive Schemes for Semiconductor and Display Fabs in 6 Months

The Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) is going to come out with incentive schemes for setting up display and semiconductor fabrication units in the country in the next six months. According to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) secretary Ajay Prakash Sawhney, the government is already doing the preparatory work and talking to the industry about the support required to set up the fabs. Separate expression of interests (EoIs) has been floated for display and semiconductor fabs and companies, both global and local, are showing keen interest to set up units in India.

Defence Ministry Clears the BRO Tunnel Under Shinkun La in Ladakh

Cutting through the red-tape, the Union defence ministry has decided to ask the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to build a 4.25-kilometre tunnel under the 5,091-metre-high Shinkun La pass to make an all-weather axis from Manali to Leh via Darcha-Padun-Nimmu alignment to supply Indian Army formations in Ladakh sector. The snow-free axis is expected to be completed by 2024.

Indian Navy Team Repairs Two Major Oxygen Plants in Andhra Pradesh

Teams from Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam achieved a major breakthrough in repairing two major Oxygen Plants at Nellore and Shri Kalahasthi bringing a major boost to the Oxygen Supply in the State of Andhra Pradesh during the ongoing Oxygen crisis. Based on a request from the State Administration, Eastern Naval Command airlifted the teams of specialists from Naval Dockyard by naval Dornier Aircraft from Visakhapatnam.

Railways Complete Challenging Tunnel Drive of 800m in Kolkata Inspite of Covid Challenges

The tunneling work gets completed by Tunnel Boring Machine [TBM ] in East West Metro Corridor with the breakthrough of “Urvi“ at Bowbazar, Kolkata on 15.05.2021. With this breakthrough the entire TBM tunneling for the Kolkata East-West Metro Project is completed. The stretch was difficult for tunneling work as it had century old buildings. This challenging tunnel drive of 800m has been completed successfully amidst this pandemic situation following COVID-19 protocol.
