‘Indian Antarctic Bill’ Introduced in Lok Sabha

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; Minister of State PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday introduced a Bill in Parliament to provide for national measures for protecting the environment of Antarctic and dependent and associated ecosystem and to give effect to the Antarctic Treaty, the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources and Protocol on the Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty.

According to an official release, NLMC would be a government-owned business with an initial authorised share capital of Rs. 5,000 crore (US$ 652.75 million) and a paid-up share capital of Rs. 150 crores (US$ 19.58 million), and its board of directors will include senior central government employees and distinguished specialists.

No Need to Physically Port the Ration Card from one State/UT to Another Under One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) Plan

The Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha on Wednesday informed that under the technology driven One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) plan, as such there is no need to physically port the ration card from one State/UT to another, as the beneficiaries have choice to lift their foodgrains from any electronic Point of Sale (ePoS) device enabled Fair Price Shop (FPS) from anywhere in the country, by using their same/existing ration card issued in their home State/UT.
