To Achieve Self-Sufficiency in Edible Oils Union Government Formulates Kharif Strategy 2021

To achieve self-sufficiency in the production of oilseeds, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has adopted a multi-pronged strategy. Under the strategy, the Government of India has approved an ambitious plan for the free distribution of high yielding varieties of seeds to the farmers for the Kharifseason 2021 in the form of mini-kits.The special Kharif programme will bring an additional 6.37 lakh hectare area under oilseeds and is likely to produce 120.26 lakh quintals of oilseeds and edible oil amounting to 24.36 lakh tonnes.

24% More Wheat Procured in Comparison to Corresponding Period Last Year

Procurement of Wheat in ongoing RMS2021-22 is continuing smoothly in the procuring States of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan,Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir at MSP, as was done in previous seasons and till now (upto17.05.2021) a quantity of over 373.51 LMT of Wheat has been procured against the last year corresponding purchase of 300.58 LMT. About38.22Lakh farmers have already been benefitted from the ongoing RMS procurement operations with MSP value of Rs. 73,768.74Crore.

Government Releases INR. 5,968 Crore Central Grant to 15 States Under Jal Jeevan Mission for Financial Year 2021-22

Government of India has released Rs. 5,968 Crore (US$ 814.41 million) to 15 States for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in the financial year 2021-22. This is the first tranche of the four to be released in this financial year. Other 17 States/ UTs have been asked to send their proposals to National Jal Jeevan Mission for release of funds.

Even though rural India has been hit by the 2nd wave of raging COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Rural Development has ensured that the development works across the country should not be affected. During the period, the country has witnessed speed and progress in various schemes under the ministry. MyGov Launches Innovation Challenge for Creating Indian Language Learning App

MyGov, the citizen engagement platform of the Government of India, in partnership with Department of Higher Education has launched an Innovation Challenge for creating an Indian Language Learning App. This Innovation Challenge has been launched to take forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of celebrating India’s cultural diversity through greater interaction among its constituent parts.
