India has China On Its Toes As Modi Govt Engages Taiwan To Solve Chip Shortage

Officials in New Delhi and Taipei have met in recent weeks to discuss a deal that would bring a chip plant worth an estimated $7.5 billion to India to supply everything from 5G devices to electric cars, the people said. India is currently studying possible locations with adequate land, water and manpower, while saying it would provide financial support of 50% of capital expenditure from 2023 as well as tax breaks and other incentives, the people said.

PM Modi to Launch Nationwide Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

Based on the foundations laid down in the form of Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile (JAM) trinity and other digital initiatives of the government, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will create a seamless online platform through the provision of a wide-range of data, information and infrastructure services, duly leveraging open, interoperable, standards-based digital systems while ensuring the security, confidentiality and privacy of health-related personal information,” the government said in a statement. The Mission will enable access and exchange of longitudinal health records of citizens with their consent, it said.

Telecom Department Initiates Telecom Reforms; Simplifies KYC Processes

As stated by Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Communications, recently, “Telecom Reforms aim to provide world class internet and tele-connectivity for the marginalised section.” In a major step towards achieving this objective, the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, issued a series of orders simplifying the KYC processes and thereby initiating the telecom reforms announced by the Cabinet on 15.09.2021.

eSanjeevani, Govt. of India’s Telemedicine Initiative, Completes 1.2 Crore Consultations

eSanjeevani, Government of India’s National Telemedicine Service, has completed 1.2 crore (120 lakh) consultations rapidly shaping into the country’s most popular and the largest telemedicine service. Currently the National Telemedicine Service is serving daily around 90,000 patients across the country signaling wide adoption by patients as well as doctors, and specialists across the country.

Over 28,300 Artisans and 1,49,422 Weavers Registered on the GeM Portal

In a move to provide enhanced market access to weavers and artisans, a drive has been initiated to onboard Weavers and artisans on the GeM portal so as to enable them sell their products directly to the Govt. Departments. This will increase participation from under-served seller groups such as artisans, weavers, micro entrepreneurs, women, tribal entrepreneurs and self-help groups working in Handloom and Handicrafts, who face challenges in accessing government markets.

Registration of Unorganized Workers Picks Pace Across the Country, More than 1 Crore Registered on e-Shram Portal

An overwhelming proportion of migrant workers are engaged in these sectors of work. As per Economic Survey 2019-20, there are an estimated 38 crore unorganised workers (UW) in the country, which would be targeted to register on this portal.These migrant workers also can now take the benefits of various social security and employment-based schemes through registration at the e-Shram portal.
