Theerdha Raj P.K has proven her passion for classical and traditional forms of dance from Kerala.
Theerdha Raj’s journey with classical dance styles and creative talents begant at a very young age. She has been tutored in Bharathanatyam at a very young age of three. With meticulous training from her mentors, she performed her Arangettam( First Stage Performance) while she was of 7 years.
Her dedicated passion for dancing and pursuit for different dance forms, helped her become a versatile dancer. Theerdha Raj perfomed her Arangettam in Kuchipudi at the age of 11.
When she was 12, she took the decision to join Kalamandalam, the heart of culture in Kerala, the world renowned music and dance school and University. She joined Kalamandalam flying colors, holding the 3rd Rank to enter the Class 8, to pursue her higher studies and passion.She was then mentored by her Guru, Smt. Kalamandalam Rema Guruvayur.
The multifaced learning process in art forms was a thrilling experience for Theerdha Raj at Kalamandalam. She learned Ottan Thullal under Sri. R.N Peettakandy.
She is learning the most disciplined art form, Kathakali under renowned Kathakali performing artist, Sri. Kalamandalam Aravindan.
Currently, she is doing her Bachelor of Arts in Mohiniyattam with Bharathanatyam as the sub, at Kalamandalam Deemed University, Cheruthuruthy, Thrissusr in Kerala.
Theerdha Raj’s immaculate and graceful movements, her subtle yet communicative expressions have won her many performances and stages across the venues. She has perfomed in various venues with her choreographic works and has conducts workshops in art forms . As a passionate mentor, Theerdha Raj devotes time and energy into developing interest in a new generation of dancers who are dedicated to classical dance forms. In addition to being an accomplished dancer, Theerdha Raj is a gifted dance choreographer.
Theerdha Raj has varied creative interests, that include poems and writing short stories.
Theerdha Raj, is the proud daughter of Jalaja Kumari and Kesavan Namboothiri P K, Pathiramattam Illam of Kozhikode District in Kerala.
