Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, the Government has an all-new website to honour the bravehearts who laid down their lives/ fought bravely for the country against all odds. The colourful website – https://www.gallantryawards.gov.in/ – was launched by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at an event in the national capital.

“From this platform, I want to request the principals of schools and colleges, Vice Chancellors of Universities to connect students with this unique initiative & instil a feeling of respect among them for our soldiers,” Rajnath Singh said.

“When a soldier fights for his country, there’s no financial greed but a sense of national pride. There’s no price for their sacrifice, they are unparalleled and we try to honour them,” he further added.

Click a selfie with bravehearts, take a pledge or a quiz

The colourful website has information about India’s gallantry awards and winners. An interesting section features quiz about gallantry awards, the same can be taken through the link – Quiz, Gannatry awards of India from January 26. Under the section ‘selfie with the bravehearts’, the website urges Indians from across the world to post a ‘selfie’ image at war memorials, war museums & other monuments of national importance.

The website also has a section titled – ‘Take a pledge’, wherein individuals can vow to ‘positively contribute to the development of my Country in my present capacity and to the best of my ability’. Interestingly, the names of those who complete the pledge appear in the ‘live feeds’ section alongside the pledge.

The website lists nearly 4300 awardees and information about their gallant actions at the click of a button. One can also pay tribute to the gallant soldiers of India by clicking on the ‘pay a tribute’ button.
