Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das Thursday said Jharkhand has established a record by giving jobs to over one lakh youths in the private sector.

A total of 1,06,000 youths got jobs with Governor Droupadi Murmu, Chief Minister Raghubar Das and other guests handing over letters to some skill-trained youth symbolically during the ‘Global Skill Summit, 2019’, an official release said.

The chief minister said Jharkhand became the first state to achieve the feat of giving jobs to over one lakh youths in the private sector.

Addressing the summit at the Khelgaon here, Das appealed to the youth to work diligently and bring laurels to the state and to their families.

He said that the state government had done a great work by providing jobs to the youths, two days before the Youth Day, which will help the state in the future.

Das said that the youths pledge would be fulfilled through hard work, adding the state was rapidly moving forward as per Prime Minster Narendra Modis thought.

He asked the youth, “Has any other state government thought about giving jobs in such a big way?” adding Jharkhand had organised three Summits in the last two years—-Momentum Jharkhand, Agriculture & Food Summit and now Global Skill Summit.

During the summit, MoUs were also signed with many national and international sector skill organisations relating to skill development and for expansion of skill development programme in Jharkhand.

The chief minister had on January 12, 2018 promised to provide jobs to one lakh youths.

Six skill training centres were inaugurated for Jamtara, Lohardaga, Palamau, Gumla and Ranchi (two centres).

A total 17 participating countries are taking part in the summit.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Droupadi Murmu congratulated the representatives of different industries and companies for helping the youth get jobs in the private sector.

“I congratulate them for initiating the process of giving jobs to the youth from Jharkhand. The youth of the state are meritorious, industrious and have the capacity to do well under difficult situations. They have talent in every sector and one cant differentiate boys and girls in terms of merit,” Murmu said.

“It is true that the youth appear dejected for want of jobs because government jobs are less and population is more.

Therefore, it is to be pondered over to develop skill training or make the youth hone skill of her or his choice,” Murmu said.

Appreciating industries and companies for felicitating jobs in this endeavour, the governor stressed that the youth should get respectable salaries so that a situation should not come for them to quit jobs in one or two months for getting lesser salary and the companies should think towards that.

She also said that it would be expected from the youth to work with commitment and discipline.
