OIC Should Not Act as Pakistan’s Hired-Gun in Kashmir

OIC may be new UN for Pakistan but India not being a member country, OIC can’t have much traction except putting some pressures.OIC should better focus on Islamic countries as governance systems of most of them are non-functional.

Pakistan is at its dirty tricks once again. It continues to push trained and heavily -armed terrorists into Kashmir from Pak Occupied Kashmir territory even during frosty winter season. As Indian defence forces take on the terrorists in their hide-outs, Pakistan funded stone pelters appear on the scene to prevent the forces from discharging their duties. And then Islamabad runs into the town crying, complaining of alleged “excesses” of Indian army on so-called “innocents”.

Recent rounding-up of three Pakistan based terrorists and subsequent shooting of stone-pelters who provided cover to these heinous terrorists has demoralised Pakistan no end. Frustrated at its terror plans going bust, Pakistan Foreign Minister recently wrote letters to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the United Nations and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR), calling on the international community, OIC in particular, to “intervene” and stop Indian anti-terror operations in Kashmir.

Without understanding the dynamics of long-standing India-Pakistan conflict on Kashmir, the OIC jumped into the fray and issued a statement on December 17 strongly condemning the “killing of innocent Kashmiris” by Indian forces, likening it to a “terrorist act”.

It further called upon the international community to play its role towards a just and lasting solution to the conflict in Kashmir, in accordance with the relevant international resolutions adopted by the OIC and the UN Security Council. Pakistan Army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) joined the chorus to condemn what is said the “state-sponsored terrorism” and unethical targeting of civilian population across LoC, asking the OIC to immediately convene an inter-ministerial meeting of its’ Contact Group on Kashmir, offering readiness to host the event. Prime Minister Khan threatened in a tweet to raise the issue of human rights violations and demanded UNSC fulfil its J&K plebiscite commitment. In its eagerness to score a diplomatic victory over India, Pakistan thus squandered whatever goodwill it had generated in the aftermath of Kartarpur corridor.

OIC took Pakistan’s contention as gospel of truth without factoring in the terror state’s true character. Such bull-headed approach has reduced OIC to its current status of a toothless tiger. Its studied silence over Syria and Libya and inaction in Yemen are baffling. Why did OIC not bother about the religious persecution of millions of Uyghur Muslims in China? It did not even condemn China for humans rights violations. What is OIC’s stand on brutality against Kashmir Pandits? Did it essay any initiative on Jerusalem? Such monumental failures in history have diminished OIC’s stature.

In the face of past blunders the hurriedly-drafted Pro-Pakistan statement appears another annual ritual. Will the world care for a morally defunct OIC that is selective and has views strictly on Islamist fundamentalist lines? Its statement on Kashmir is rather a belated attempt to search for some nonexistent relevance. Should OIC allow itself to be used as a religious weapon?

Does OIC represent Muslims’ interests? India is the second most populous nation of Muslims after Indonesia and has more Muslims than Pakistan but has so far been kept out of OIC fold. Why has OIC membership not been given to India? Recently, Bangladesh raised the issue but OIC was deaf.
As a diversionary tactic, economically failed terror state of Pakistan is raising high decibel on Kashmir at world forums. Unfortunately, OIC is foolishly playing the hired gun!

OIC may be new UN for Pakistan but India not being a member country, OIC can’t have much traction except putting some pressures.OIC should better focus on Islamic countries as governance systems of most of them are non-functional.

OIC should pressurize Islamic countries to take refugees – the by-products of unbridled Islamist fundamentalism of Islamic world. Can OIC help Pakistan with its failing economy as the terror state keeps hallucinating on sanctions against India?

Pakistani funded and army-trained barbaric terrorists are committing brutality against innocent, peaceful Kashmiris and tormenting them no end.
By unethical targeting police and army personnel and violating Indian sovereignty in Kashmir, Pakistan is holding peaceful Kashmiris as hostages to devilish wishes of terrorists.

OIC should better focus on such horrendous Pakistani atrocities. By jumping unintentionally into the decades-old India-Pakistan territorial dispute on Kashmir, OIC has been reduced by Pakistan to a tool in its terror strategies. That could cause irreparable damage to the by-now-defunct organisation.
