NSG Signs MoU Aimed to Enhance Proficiency As Zero Error Force

With focus on a dual mission, the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation and collaboration aimed at strengthening the core competencies of the NSG, which are counter-terrorism, counter-IEDs, and anti-hijacking. With focus on a dual mission, the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation and collaboration aimed at strengthening the core competencies of the NSG, which are counter-terrorism, counter-IEDs, and anti-hijacking. The MoU also aims to contribute to capacity-building and providing assistance to Indian start-ups focused on security by helping them to understand the specific requirements and the problem statements formulated by NSG for design and research projects.

The aim of the MoU is to synergise the expertise of NSG & RRU to embolden innovation, incubation, training, research, and distance education in the field of security through the ‘Security and Scientific-Technical Research Association’ (SASTRA) and RRU’s Integrated Space for e-Education (RISE) platform and tie-ups with Indian start-ups dealing with security-related products.

The MoU will cover major themes to get the benefits to NSG. It will establish global standards through collaboration in the field of security, infrastructure, education, knowledge and research as well as facilitate the accreditation and certification of all courses run by NSG. It will also give the much-needed impetus to National Bomb Data Centre by accreditation to its activities and creating AIML based IED data management software for NBDC and also bridging equipment gaps by developing solutions to problem statements through incubation start-ups by SASTRA RRU.

During 2019-20, NSG initiated Counter IED and Counter-Terrorism Excellence Awards for young minds/ entrepreneurs/ educational institutes/ government research organisations towards the aspects of technological innovations/improving/facilitating Counterterrorist and Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) Operations by the security forces and to give the necessary impetus to “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”. The “NSG Innovations Award”, winners are selected from across the country and from all fields. This year the awards were given to individuals from IIT Roorkee, New Space Technologies Pvt Ltd, DRDO (Pune), Army Engineer Regiment and Institute of IED management (CRPF).

Professor Shailesh Ganpule from Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department (MIED), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has been conferred with the ‘NSG Counter-IED and Counter-Terrorism Innovator Award 2021′ for his contribution and innovation in the design and development of Blast-Resistant Helmet.
