A mammoth flag which is 30 x 45 feet was hoisted on 108 feet monumental flag pole at the Jaisalmer War Museum. Naveen Jindal, President, Flag Foundation of India and Member of Parliament hoisted it in the presence of Lieutenant General VS Sreenivas, Vishist Seva Medal and Bar, General Officer Commanding Konark Corps and a large number of senior civilian and military dignitaries of the state.
The flag weighing 15 Kilograms is made of knitted polyester fabric called ‘Deneir polyester’. The Chakra of the flag is printed by using specialised printing process. The 108 foot high monumental flag is the 27th Monumental Flag by Flag Foundation of India (FFOI) in Defence establishments across the country.
The concept of the monumental flag poles in India was conceived to inspire young Indians to take pride in displaying the National Flag and instil a sense of patriotism among the citizens. The hoisting of the Monumental National Flag at the War Museum will go a long way in instituting of National Pride amongst the youth. Jaisalmer War Museum, opened to public in 2015 has war exhibits which include enemy vehicles and equipment captured during the course of operations in 1965 and 1971. The Museum, has an Honour Wall engraved with the names of the Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra gallantry award winners.
