Kamya Karthikeyan, 12-Year-Old Girl From Indian Navy School Creates History

Kamya studies at Navy Children’s School in Mumbai. The Indian Navy gave information about this and told that Kamya Karthikeyan became the youngest girl in the world to summit Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America & outside of Asia. Mount Aconcagua is located in the Andes mountain range of Argentina. Kamya also hoisted the tricolor of India on the mountain peak on 1 February.

Kamya Karthikeyan, a 12-year-old student of India, has set the record of conquering Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak outside Asia. Kamya becomes the youngest mountaineer to achieve this record. Mount Aconcagua is the highest peak in the in South America. Kamya conquered 6962 meters high peak on 1 February, 2020.

Kamya Karthikeyan is a student of seventh grade at Navy Children’s School in Mumbai. Naval officials said that Kamya’s regular involvement in long-term physical, mental and adventure sports and hard work helped her to climb under difficult conditions.

Kamya’s father S. Karthikeyan is a Commander in the Indian Navy, her mother is a teacher by profession. From childhood, Kamya is very passionate towards mountaineering.

Kamya has climbed many high mountains earlier also. Earlier, on 24 August 2019, she also conquered the 6260 meter high Mentok Kangri II of Ladakh under difficult conditions.

Kamya started mountaineering at the age of three. She then went on a basic track in Lonavla. At the age of 9, Kamya along with her parents did many high-altitude tracks in Uttarakhand.

At the age of ten, Kamya reached Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5346 meters in Nepal. Kamya has also been the youngest mountaineer to conquer Mount Stoke Kangri (6153 m) in Ladakh.
