India’s first indigenous nuclear submarine INS Arihant has successfully completed its first deterrence patrol.
Congratulating the Indian Navy and the Indian defence technologists, President Ram Nath Kovind in a tweet said, the successful mission of this indigenous nuclear submarine is a landmark moment in the nation’s security preparedness.
Hailing INS Arihant’s achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, a credible nuclear deterrence is the need of the hour and the success of INS Arihant gives a fitting response to those who indulge in nuclear blackmail.
The Prime Minister said, India’s nuclear programme must be seen with regard to country’s efforts to further world peace and stability.
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, it places India in the league of the few countries that can design, construct and operate Strategic Strike Nuclear Submarines.
She congratulated the Indian armed forces and the entire scientific community for this.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said, it is a momentous occasion for India and will go a long way in safeguarding the strategic and security interests.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, said, today is the day of great pride for 130 crore Indians and the armed forces.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Col Rajyavardhan Rathore said, today is the special day for India as the nuclear submarine INS Arihant successfully completed its first deterrence patrol. He said, it marks the completion of India’s nuclear triad and ensures nation’s safety and security.
