The 600-MW floating solar complex to be constructed in Madhya Pradesh, India, is expected to be operational by 2022-2023, the Economic Times reported on Tuesday, citing the new and renewable energy minister for the state, Hardeep Singh Dang.
The facility will be installed at the Omkareshwar dam on Narmada river, Khandwa district, with an investment estimated to amount to INR 30 billion (USD 409m/EUR 333m), according to an official release quoted by the paper.
Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company will buy 400 MW of the system’s output, Dang added.
The primary feasibility study of the solar facility has been completed in partnership with the World Bank, which together with the International Finance Corporation and Power Grid has agreed to provide funds for the project.
According to Dang, the transmission line route survey for the connection of the installation to the Khandwa substation is set to begin in January. The local government is also launching a tender for the study of the environmental and social impact of the project area.
