Indians are the most positive about employment and pay increase prospects in 2021 in the Asia Pacific region, job site ‘Indeed’ said on Monday, citing its global report. In reference to their counterparts in Australia (20%) and Singapore, Indian employees (56%) are more than twice as optimistic about their chances of having a pay raise next year (23 per cent).
Over one in three Indian workers, the highest in all countries surveyed, are very positive about their employment opportunities in 2021, it said.
The study indicated that Indian employees regard workplace safety (59%) and employee well-being (44%) as the two most significant factors for the workplace in 2021.
Indian resilience is expressed in the optimism of its staff about the job market as it prepares to welcome a new year and a possible vaccine campaign. Yet, even if approached by other employers, 54% said they would not seek other employment prospects, some citing current happiness in the workplace, but most referring to job insecurity.
More than two in five employers, speaking of resilience, said the decisions taken at the beginning of the pandemic were successful in ensuring their business continuity. 66% of employers also thanked their workers in this time of crisis for pulling together and supporting their company.
While forced into lockdown this year, more family time and inclusion/flexibility were cited as positive side effects by Indian staff.
In 2020, two out of five employees said, “more time with family” and “more opportunities to work from home” had the greatest effect on their personal conditions.
According to the Indeed release, between November 13 and November 20 this year, the global survey assessed the opinion of 3600 employers and 14,142 workers across the UK, the US, Ireland, Australia, India, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Singapore, Mexico, Brazil and Canada.
