As per Mr. Amit Sharma, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR,” In Q3 2020, the smartphone market offset the ongoing pandemic-related challenges in H1 2020 and expanded well. We estimate that smartphone demand would outpace other product categories in the festive climate, given cautious discretionary spending being low.”
Ms. Shipra Sinha, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR, added,” In Q3 2020, eCommerce platforms expanded their scope across India by linking up with local stores. We expect online to drive > 70% of overall sales this festive season.”
With the launch of OnePlus Nord, the 5 G smartphone market expanded dramatically, by almost 500% quarter-on-quarter.
OnePlus increased year on year at 104%. In addition, 16% of its Q3 shipments were accounted for by OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Three-fourths of all 5 G shipments in Q3 2020 were contributed by OnePlus.
To capture the seventh spot in the industry, Apple shipments increased by 67% year-on-year, led by the demand for iPhone SE and iPhone 11 that contributed to 91% of its shipments in Q3 2020.
CMR expects that the smartphone market will increase at 15% year-on-year in H2, with a 14% YoY rise in Q4 2020.
“We expect offline sales will pick up momentum in the coming quarters as the economy opens further. That said, smartphone sales volumes would continue to be powered online.
