NEW DELHI: India will have better access to public finance data of Maldives with a memorandum of understanding signed by Comptroller and Auditor General G C Murmu on Sunday with his counterpart in Male. The pact will ensure exchange of information between the two countries on government finances and training of auditors.
The CAG of India will also undertake training programmes for auditors of Maldives and use its expertise in environmental and natural resources auditing to help Male in accounting for its national assets.
“The training would involve introducing smart auditing practices, data analysis as well as capacity building by skilling teams in latest best practices,” CAG said. The collaboration is seen as Male’s attempt to better integrate its economy with India and a close coordination on its public policies.
Auditor General of Maldives Hussain Niyazy expressed his deep appreciation to his Indian counterpart for their continued support and generous assistance in helping his institution build and develop the necessary capacities of its staff through CAG’s International Centre for Information Systems and Audit (iCISA) and International Training Centre for Environment Audit and Sustainable Development (iCED).
