Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF), the philanthropic arm of multinational conglomerate Honeywell, said on Monday that it will spend Rs. 10 crore (US$ 1.36 million) in 50 institutions across the country to establish centres of excellence for skill development in collaboration with ICT Academy.
Honeywell has committed Rs. 10 crore (US$ 1.36 million) in the first year as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to develop these centres in a three-year partnership with ICT Academy to offer certifications in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Big Data Analytics, and Nanotechnology, according to a statement from HHSIF.
Throughout the project cycle, this upskilling programme will empower 15,000 students, half of whom are women, and give job placements.
Students from marginalised groups enrolling in engineering, arts, and scientific institutions in tier I and II cities throughout Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra will get an internationally recognised credential as part of the initiative.
HHSIF is also developing centres for female students in order to encourage diversity and inclusion in the workforce.
“As Industry 4.0 alters the workplace to improve people productivity, asset effectiveness, and process efficiency, there is a rising demand for a future-ready workforce with the necessary skill sets. Digital fluency is important to acquire employment in tech-related areas, and Honeywell is delighted to collaborate with ICT Academy to contribute to this skilling effort.” Honeywell India President and HHSIF Director Mr. Ashish Gaikwad stated.
The government’s ICT Academy works with state governments and businesses to provide instructors and students with skills that meet industry needs and help create jobs in tier II and tier III cities and rural regions.
